Our team consists of three young but eager designers: Paul Reijnierse, Erik van de Wiel and Ferdi Koomen. As with all real Monsters Interaction Design runs through our veins and our main concern always lies with the users that we design for. Within our team we have a very diverse background which gives us the possibility to take on a diverse range of products.

De Monster identity is heavily inspired by the childrens book ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ by Maurice Sendak.
`The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind and another, his mother called him “Wild thing!” and Max said: “I’ll eat you up!”. So he was sent to bed without eating anything. That very night in Max’s room a forest grew, and grew, and grew until the ceiling hung with vines and the walls became the world all around and an ocean tumbled by with a private boat for Max and he sailed off through night and day and in and out of weeks and almost over a year to where the Wild Things are.’
As soon as we, young designers that we are, wear our Monster suits we can take on anything. That is when we are practicing our work filled with passion. The fact that we enjoy our work and are proud of what we do comes first and foremost. What de Monsters do is far more than just work, it is way of life and we are proud of it!
De Monster vision is something that is on our mind every single day. As soon as we wear our Monster suits we dive into something and we won’t let go until we have achieved the best possible result. As Monsters we make sure that you don’t have to worry about all the details anymore. The small nuances matter the most to us as they make the differences between something that is just good or something that is great. By laying our cards on the table when it comes to the way that we work and by teaching young designers in college we try to remain on edge and this helps us to remind that just good is never enough.
Real Monsters are flexible and can create big changes in short periods of time. De Monsters believe in an approach where you get to know the people that you design for before you actually start designing. By trying to understand these individuals we find out about their motivations, goals and behavior. We use this knowledge to create products that connect with these motivations, goals and behavior. Products that fit into your daily life without attracting any unnecessary attention. This is why de Monsters do not like the unnecessary wilderness of technology around us.
De Monsters are looking for Flash Developers to join our current team with the development of Blackbox and De MonsterDebugger.
Just like last year, De Monsters will present at FITC 2010 in Amsterdam. Paul and Ferdi will have a session on Blackbox.
