D-Reizen Vacation Stress Test

Together with Fitzroy Amsterdam we created the Vacation Stress Test for dutch travel agency D-Reizen. The Vacation Stress Test is an online test that can help you determine how stressed you are and give you an advice on how many vacation days you should take. The project was awarded with an FWA Site of the day.

How much vacation do you need?

The online test uses voice recognition from your microphone to determine your stress level. If you don't have a microphone you can also use your keyboard.

Basic holiday supplies

During the test, which is accompanied by a voice over that has been generated by Google Translate, you have to read the names of several holiday themed objects out loud. Of course we don't want to stress you too much, so all the objects are presented karaoke style.

Voice analysis

After you complete the test we start analyzing your voice for stress patterns. The analysis uses algorithms that are used in actual lie detectors, however the accuracy of the outcome is heavily influenced by the quality of the used microphone and computer. During the analysis you hear your own voice back played at different speeds and pitches.

Share your stress level

Using the result from the analysis, you get an advice for the amount of vacation days you should take. By sharing your result on Twitter, Facebook or Hyves you can win an XXL Suitcase which is provided by D-Reizen.

Keyboard alternative

Although the best experience for the test is achieved using your microphone, we did want to offer an alternative for people without the option to use a microphone. In that case all the objects have to be spelled correctly using the keyboard. The stress level is then determined on the amount of errors in typing, usage of backspace and overall speed.
